Business Development Executive

On behalf of our client, we have an exciting new opportunity for talented and driven Business Development Consultant to join their growing sales team in Belfast.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious and driven individual with some commercial experience in a Sales environment.

This is a varied role, working with various top clients in the Public and Private sector, you will seek new business opportunities locally and internationally therefore you will need excellent communications skills, be approachable and friendly as well as demonstrating strong organisational skills.

  • Responsibility for achieving and maintaining annual revenue targets on allocated accounts.

  • Source new business opportunities and complete proposal writing and tender completion in domestic and international markets.

  • Understand the target markets, including industry, company, project, company contacts and which market strategies can be used to attract new clients.

  • Build a strong pipeline of sales and new business opportunities aligned to monthly and quarterly targeted KPIs.

  • Tender sourcing and tender response writing.

  • Monitor relevant websites and identify tender opportunities and associated proposal preparations;

  • Clarification of bid conditions and management of the tender preparation.

  • Monitoring of the bid management in order to ensure it is aligned with business strategic objectives and action plan.

  • Ongoing proactive account management.

  • Holding sales meetings and calls on behalf of clients with potential investors in their region/ potential customers of their product.

  • Identifying new revenue streams from existing clients.

  • Tender response and proposal writing and co-ordination.

  • Undertaking effective contract renewal plans, focused on upselling/growing contracts with existing clients.

Applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • 2 years’ business development/sales experience and providing solutions based on customer needs with responsibility for client reporting;

  • 2 years’ tending writing and response;

  • Strong interpersonal skills proven in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (tender writing, report writing, email, telephone) coupled with listening, negotiation and presentation skills;

  • Strong planning and organisational skills;

  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment.

Desirable Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in an Economic Development (Local ED, Trade or FDI)

  • Knowledge of using online research tools such as social media platforms, RSS Feeds, Google Alerts, and LinkedIn for business development activity;

  • Experience in directing work activities of junior sales/account executives;

  • Business-related degree or equivalent;

  • Proficient in another language (other than English);

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
