<p>On behalf of our client, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy Department at Antrim Hospital. This temporary role provides an excellent opportunity to support the safe and efficient supply of medicines, dressings, and medical items to hospital and community patients.</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Receive, check, and shelve pharmacy items in line with departmental SOPs.</li>
<li>Assemble and issue daily ward orders, bulk issues, and procedure packs via EPIC pharmacy system.</li>
<li>Support dispensing of vaccines, controlled drugs, and medical supplies to wards and community users.</li>
<li>Assist with pre-packing, broken pack dispensing, and stock rotation/expiry management.</li>
<li>Perform vehicle deliveries of pharmacy supplies as required.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate documentation, including returns processing and stock records.</li>
<li>Assist in aseptic unit preparation and cleaning.</li>
<li>Participate in training and knowledge sharing with staff, students, and trainees.</li>
<li>Comply with Medicines Act, COSHH, and Trust health &amp; safety policies.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Essential Criteria:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>5 GCSEs (Grades A–G) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics Grade C or above, <strong>OR</strong></li>
<li>NVQ Level 2/BTEC Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff</li>
<li>Effective communication, organisational, and computer skills</li>
</ul>

                    <description><![CDATA[<p><b>JOB TITLE</b>: Specialist Biomedical Scientist</p>
<p><b>HOURS</b>: 37.5 &#8211; Monday – Friday 10am-6pm or 12pm to 8pm (May be some weekend and night shifts)</p>
<p><b>SALARY</b>: Band 6, £19.78 per hour</p>
<p><b>INITIAL LOCATION</b>: Craigavon Area Hospital</p>
<p><b>JOB SUMMARY</b></p>
<p>To provide a diagnostic support service to users of the laboratory service. The post holder will be required to undertake a range of diagnostic analysis, interpret the results produced and communicate the relevant information to clinicians</p>
<p><b>KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p>
<p>Technical / Analytical</p>
<p>1. Perform all routine tests associated with their area of laboratory medicine, including issuing routine reports (printed reports and/or verbal communication of results to clinicians) or making appropriate referrals for advice where necessary (e.g. in equivocal or extremely complex cases). Reporting may take place in emergency or out of hours circumstances.</p>
<p>2. Perform the necessary quality control procedures to ensure the analytical integrity of the results produced, identifying and implementing first line remedial action in the event of QC failure.</p>
<p>3. Take responsibility for first line troubleshooting of analysers and equipment, carrying out any repairs which do not require the intervention of the manufacturer’s specialist engineers and reporting faults as required.</p>
<p>4. After gaining appropriate experience, be capable of providing the above analytical functions in an out of hours context, where the post-holder is the sole Biomedical Scientist on duty for that discipline.</p>
<p>5. Participate in the evaluation of new equipment and techniques, which may involve collation of comparative data and presentation of results.</p>
<p>6. Be available / able to work any 5 days out of 7 over the 24 hour period, which may include on-call / stand-by / sleep-in duties, shifts, night duty, weekends and Public Holidays if required immediately on appointment or at a later stage following commencement in response to changing demands of the service</p>
<p>7. Once training is at an appropriate level regular rotation to DHH site will be expected</p>
<p>Organisational</p>
<p>8. Assist with the supervision and training of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.</p>
<p>9. Take responsibility for the area of work allocated by senior staff, including determining how work should be organised in order to meet the constraints of time and quality determined by the laboratories’ standard operating procedures.</p>
<p>10. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and adhere to the standards set down in the directorate’s quality manual.</p>
<p>11. Be familiar with the operation of relevant computerised information systems within the department, ensuring the accurate entry of laboratory data into the system.</p>
<p>12. Participate in audit. Participation to include the design and completion of audits in their own area of work.</p>
<p>Education / Development</p>
<p>13. Meet any current and future requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required for state registration by the HealthCare Professions Council (HCPC).</p>
<p>14. Participate in annual appraisal and maintain a portfolio of personal development</p>
<p>RAISING CONCERNS &#8211; RESPONSIBILITIES</p>

<p><strong>GENERAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>
<p>The post holder will be required to:</p>
<p>1. Ensure the Trust’s policy on equality of opportunity is promoted through his/her own actions and those of any staff for whom he/she has responsibility.</p>

<p><b>Experience</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 1 year post HCPC registration Registration</li>
<li>Band 6 Specialist BMS: completion of Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry</li>
<li>Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Skills /Abilities </b></p>
<ul>
<li>Good interpersonal and team working skills.</li>
<li>Good verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Good IT skills including use of Microsoft office products; word, excel and outlook.</li>
<li>Ability to work systematically and under pressure in a busy environment.</li>
<li>Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.</li>
<li>Ability to accurately follow set protocols.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Experience</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience as a state registered Biomedical Scientist working out of hours/ lone working.</li>
</ul>
