Livestock Sustainability Modeller – SSO

Location: Hillsborough
Salary: £43,584 per annum (pro-rata)
Hours: Minimum 12 hours up to 22.2 hours per week
Duration: Temporary, Part-Time – 7 months, with possible extension
Working Hours: Flexible, with fixed hours each week and flexibility around days

Apple Recruitment Services are currently seeking a Livestock Sustainability Modeller (SSO) on behalf of a public sector scientific organisation based in Hillsborough.

This is a part-time opportunity within the Sustainable Livestock Systems Branch, focusing on sustainability research in the area of livestock production and the associated publication of research findings.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will contribute to sustainability research in the area of livestock production.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking sustainability research relating to livestock production.
  • Applying appropriate research methodologies to livestock production and associated sustainability issues.
  • Contributing to the analysis and interpretation of research findings.
  • Disseminating research findings through scientific publications.
  • Applying life cycle assessment modelling and/or script-based computer programming to agricultural production and/or agri-food supply chains
  • Supporting the publication of research results in scientific journals.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1a. A PhD in a relevant area AND 2 years’ demonstrable experience in a relevant area; OR

1b. An undergraduate degree in a relevant area AND 4 years’ demonstrable experience in a relevant area.

2. Ability to disseminate research findings, as evidenced by a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals as the first author.

3. Demonstrable experience in life cycle assessment modelling OR script-based computer programming, applied to agricultural production and/or agri-food supply chains.
