Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Band 3 Admin Support Worker on behalf of our client to work in The Western Trust, Altnagelvin Hospital
- Hourly Rate: £11.67
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday & Friday, 9am-5pm, 22 ½ hrs each week
- Duration: End November
- Location: Londonderry/Derry

Main duties and responsibilities:
The post holder will be an integral part of the Macmillan Health & Well Being Campus & Macmillan Information & Support Service and will be the first point of contact for people affected by cancer or long term condition(s), as they drop-in or attend for appointments or programmes
Criteria:
5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) to include English Language or equivalent qualifications or higher standard of education AND 1 year administrative / clerical experience
OR NVQ Level II Business Administration or equivalent and 1 year Administrative / Clerical experience
OR 3 years Administrative / Clerical experience
- Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the post
- Knowledge of Health and Social Services including current trends within cancer services
- Knowledge of HSCC computer systems e.g. PAS, ECR
- Working knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
- Excellent communication skills Experience of working with patients
- Knowledge Good communication skills with people at all levels Ability to work as part of a team and to relate to senior members of staff
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Effective organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to use computer for typing of reports, collation of data
- Understanding of person centred care
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
- Willingness to undertake learning and development courses as appropriate to the post
Duties:
- Assist with any administrative duties that support with the day-to-day running of the Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Campus and Macmillan Information & Support Service.
- Provide general health information and support to people affected by cancer or long term condition(s) and signpost appropriately to local services.
- Open and action incoming mail and direct correspondence as required.
- Provide refreshments to people accessing the Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Campus. Accountable To: General Manager, Cancer Services
- Assist with mentoring Trust volunteers who are supporting the Macmillan Health & Wellbeing Campus or Macmillan Information & Support Service.
- Be responsible for maintaining the schedule for room bookings as requested by the designated services and ensure resources are available as required on the day.
- Use good communication skills to provide both direct and indirect (e.g. face to face, telephone or written communication) information to patients/families or carers and volunteers as appropriate, to support their individual needs and where necessary escalate to the appropriate professional.
- Update and maintain the Macmillan Campus & Information & Support Service sharepoint.
- Collate data to enable accurate reporting to support audit, governance, research and service development.
- Demonstrate in practice the Macmillan Human Rights Standard for Cancer Care.
- Reinforce information given to patients on healthy lifestyle choices and signs and symptoms.
- Provide cross cover for the Macmillan Information & Support Service and assist with tasks within this service when required.
