Apple Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading provider of support services, for a permanent Buyer position based at their Head Office in Warrington.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in sourcing and procuring engineering, facilities and manufacturing equipment spare parts and services for a
diverse customer base.
Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring continuity of supply, negotiating the best commercial terms with suppliers, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and building strong relationships with customers’ maintenance and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Respond to purchase requisitions for both ad-hoc (spot buy) and inventory-controlled items in a timely manner.
2. Source and procure engineering, facilities and manufacturing equipment spare parts and services.
3. Raise and manage purchase orders within company systems.
4. Expedite supplier deliveries and update delivery promise dates.
5. Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery of goods.
6. Negotiate pricing, lead times and payment terms with suppliers.
7. Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives through price negotiations, product substitutions and standardisation projects.
8. Track and report cost savings.
9. Resolve delivery discrepancies and arrange returns, credits or replacements as required.
10. Investigate and resolve invoice queries.
11. Produce and maintain procurement reports on a weekly basis.
12. Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working within a demanding manufacturing environment where continuity of production is critical.
- Strong knowledge of engineering, maintenance and factory consumables.
- Good understanding of engineering and maintenance supply chains.
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to secure favourable commercial outcomes.
- Experience identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
- Knowledge of inventory control processes.
- Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing procurement role.
Salary & Benefits
- £29,000 – £30,000 per annum
- Permanent position
- Employer pension contribution of 6%
- Opportunity to join the BUPA Health & Dental Scheme upon successful completion of probation
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
