Job Title: Housing Advisor
Location: Portadown Office (Various locations across Northern Ireland available)
Duration: Temporary contract from 1st July 2025 to 1st October 2025
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (37 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: £16.37

On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are recruiting for a Housing Advisor. This role focuses on providing housing advice and support to individuals facing complex needs or difficult circumstances, with an emphasis on homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and visits to assess customer housing needs and circumstances.

  • Undertake housing investigations and make decisions in line with statutory duties under the Housing Order (NI) 1988.

  • Arrange emergency accommodation and manage caseloads to reduce homelessness and temporary accommodation needs.

  • Actively manage cases to find appropriate housing solutions in public and private sectors.

  • Provide advice on tenancy sustainment, housing rights, welfare benefits, and income maximisation.

  • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to support vulnerable customers and ensure tenancy readiness.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and participate in multi-agency case conferences as required.

  • Deliver high standards of customer service and maintain accurate case records.

  • Support team efforts and represent the Housing Team as needed.

  • Comply with all relevant policies including equality, health and safety, and data protection.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 5 qualification (BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma or equivalent) in Housing or a related discipline, plus relevant experience in a customer support environment OR equivalent professional experience with proven skills.

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and working collaboratively with partners.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage a challenging workload.

  • Excellent communication skills, especially in difficult situations.

  • Current driving licence or access to suitable transport for the role.
