Job Description

Apple Recruitment are recruiting for an Operations Services Manager (Band 7) on behalf of Business Services Organisation (BSO).

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure all database servers are backed up in a manner that meets the RPO and RTO defined in customer SLA’s.
  • Troubleshoot database service outages as needed, including after-hours and weekends.
  • Recommend most appropriate high availability and resilience options to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Undertake capacity reviews of managed databases on a regular basis.
  • Document database environments to a quality standard.
  • Mentor support team colleagues.
  • Ensure that all operational delivery services and developments provided by ITS are planned and delivered in accordance with agreed support processes, SLA’s and ITS quality standards (ITIL, ISO 9001 and ISO 20000).
  • Ensure that all operational delivery services provided by suppliers are planned and delivered in accordance with agreed quality processes, SLA’s and ITS quality standards as appropriate.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the planning of delegated budgets, deployment of financial resources and personnel in a timely manner to meet planned milestones and timetables.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the Development and maintenance of comprehensive and agreed project plans in accordance with ITS standards.
  • To be a Specialist in the technologies and methodologies relevant to your business area, including the provision of expert Technical advice and guidance to other ITS business areas and to the wider HSC.
  • Act as deputy to the Operations Manager in relation to representing ITS on relevant system governance structures e.g. Service Review Meetings, Management Groups, etc.

Applicants must, by the closing date:

1a.) Hold a university degree in a computer science related subject or relevant ICT professional qualification and have a minimum of 3 years experience in an ICT technical management role within a major organisation

OR

1b.) Have worked for at least 5 years in an ICT Technical management role within a major organisation.

2.) Have recent experience/knowledge of working with Infrastructure\Cloud technologies and licensing, such as Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems, Microsoft 365 & Azure\AWS\GCloud Technology, Relational Database systems, Virtualisation, High Availability, SAN Storage, Networking, Security, Client devices, Web servers, Integration technologies, Application support, etc.

3.) Have experience of leading or supporting ICT projects with a budget of over £50,000

4.) Have previous experience utilising a project methodology or contract management (e.g. PRINCE 2, other similar methodology).

5.) Have at least 2 years’ experience managing teams of people.

6.) Demonstrate evidence of personally managing and leading change within an organisation.

7.) Have worked with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

8.) Have excellent communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.

9.) Must be competent using IT Tools and Services and willing to learn new skills in this area.

Further Details:

  • Hourly Rate: £22.37
  • Hours: 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
  • Duration: Up to 6 months with possibility of extension
