Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk

Department: Finance / Accounts

Reports to: Finance Manager

Location: Greater Belfast

Type: Full-time/Part-time/3- 6 Month Contract

Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 depending on experience

Flexible Hours between: 8:00am–5:30pm

 

About the Role

Apple Recruitment is proud to be working with a highly successful and expanding company operating across the UK and Ireland. We are currently seeking an Accounts Administrator to join their busy accounts team in Belfast on an urgent basis, initially for 3- 6 months employed directly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Purchase Invoices:

Receive, verify, and process purchase invoices promptly.

Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes.

Code invoices correctly to appropriate cost centres or ledger accounts.

Prepare and schedule payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on discrepancies.

2. Goods-In Delivery Notes:

Record and verify goods-in delivery notes against purchase orders.

Ensure correct quantities, descriptions, and pricing are recorded.

Maintain accurate records of stock received and notify relevant departments of discrepancies.

3. Daily Finance Tasks:

Maintain the purchase ledger and update records daily.

Assist with cash management, bank reconciliations, and petty cash as required.

Support month-end processes, including accruals and reconciliations.

Respond to internal and external finance queries professionally and promptly.

Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Skills and Competencies

Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

Good organisational and time-management abilities.

Competent in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP) and MS Office, especially Excel.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills for dealing with suppliers and internal teams.

Experience and Qualifications

Previous experience in accounts payable, purchase ledger, or finance administration.

Understanding of basic accounting principles.

Relevant finance or accounting qualifications (e.g., AAT) desirable.

Personal Attributes

Methodical, reliable, and accurate.

Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Professional and customer-focused attitude.
