Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Newtownards Office (with travel across Northern Ireland as required)
Duration: Ongoing temporary contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (37 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £18.72 per hour
On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor. This key role involves the effective commercial management of planned works and compliance-related investment programmes to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, on budget, and with minimal defects, whilst maximising customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications, drawings, bills of quantities, and schedules of rates to support tender and quotation processes.
- Work closely with procurement teams to ensure appropriate contracts are in place and manage contract administration.
- Interpret contract terms to manage commercial risks and advise on strategies to reduce risk and improve performance.
- Manage and monitor project budgets, including forecasting, cash flow, and regular benchmarking reviews.
- Evaluate tenders and quotations, prepare contracts and agreements, and authorise works instructions and invoice payments.
- Liaise with contractors and consultants to ensure smooth project delivery and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide technical advice on construction contract matters to management and staff.
- Support risk management, compliance, and performance monitoring activities.
- Contribute to stock appraisals and regeneration initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Equality legislation.
- Participate in training, meetings, and external forums as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree (Level 6) in a Building or Construction discipline with at least 1 year relevant experience, OR
- BTEC Higher (Level 5) with at least 2 years relevant experience, OR
- Equivalent professional development and at least 3 years relevant experience.
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in planning and delivering value-for-money construction programmes and managing budgets within NEC 3/4 contracts.
- Experience in at least two of the following: performance monitoring, KPI reporting, technical contract advice, policy implementation, and project delivery management.
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence or access to suitable transport to meet the role requirements.
