Job Opportunity: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Belfast
Hours: 37 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Rate: £18.72 per hour
Contract: Temporary, Full Time (Initially Until 1 August 2025)

Apple Recruitment Services are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (APD) on behalf of our public sector client to support the delivery of high-quality planned works and compliance-related investment projects within the Asset Management directorate.

This is a great opportunity to join a busy team managing complex contracts and contributing to the effective commercial oversight of NIHE assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop specifications, BOQs, and schedules of rates for tendering

  • Provide commercial support, including cost forecasting, contract interpretation, and risk management

  • Administer NEC 3/4 contracts and manage contractor relationships

  • Track and report on KPIs, budget performance, and contract compliance

  • Provide technical advice and support across multidisciplinary teams

  • Authorise works, process variations, and ensure all documentation is maintained accurately

  • Contribute to corporate planning, compliance, and process improvement

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a construction-related discipline plus 1 year’s experience
    OR
    BTEC Higher/Level 5 qualification plus 2 years’ experience
    OR
    Equivalent CPD/experiential learning plus 3 years’ experience

  • At least 1 year’s experience in:

    • Commercial planning and delivery of construction programmes

    • Budget responsibility and managing NEC 3/4 contracts

  • Experience in 2 or more of the following areas:

    • Performance data analysis and benchmarking

    • Monitoring and reporting KPIs

    • Advising stakeholders on construction contracts

    • Policy implementation and corrective action

    • Managing project delivery to targets

  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills

  • Must hold a valid driving licence or have access to suitable transport

  • Basic Access NI clearance required
