Job Title: Responsible Business Champion – MARCOMMS

Location: Belfast

Duration: Full Time Permanent position

Hours: 37 hours between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Fridays.

Salary:  £29000 starting salary with a bonus on top of basic salary. And an excellent benefits package.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the post holder will work with colleagues, staff, and external partners to evolve established initiatives and introducing new ideas, partnerships and themes that best meet the needs of staff, the community and the biodiversity of the local environment. Whilst the RBC will have access to wider departmental support in developing strategy and implementing outcomes, they will be the central figure in this area driving wider staff engagement and participation in workplace initiatives and shaping effective external partnerships.

Duties and responsibilities:

As the Responsible Business Champion, you are the key point of contact to develop, oversee, support and evaluate Responsible Business activities, aligned to the wider business strategy as well as coordinating external RB activity within the local community, including overseeing Funds developed by the client. You will also research and remain up to date with local initiatives that provide opportunities for business engagement e.g. Careers Fairs, National Apprenticeship Week/Mela Festival. You will represent the business at these events and other events including key regional events, industry groups and forums to identify emerging issues and where appropriate, work on collaborative projects e.g. Business in the Community events.

Assist in the administration of Employee Forums.

Coordination of staff social events e.g. Summer Social, Christmas party, Pantomime, Diversity Day, and ad-hoc events.

Coordination of external RB activity within the local community, including overseeing the organisation’s Community Fund.

Implementation of various strands of the Healthy LIFE calendar; for example, Flu Vaccines, Steps Challenge, information provision/signposting, Lunch and Learn activity.

Ensure that where appropriate RB outcomes are captured in photo or video formats and promoted on the social media channels and intranet system in line with data protection and GDPR requirements.

Work with colleagues to enhance internal communication platforms, optimising employee engagement and volunteering.

Represent the business at key regional events, industry groups and forums to identify emerging issues and where appropriate work on collaborative projects (for example Business in the Community events).

Provide timely insights and content to support internal reporting requirements, annual publications and marketing materials.

Research and remain up to date with initiatives locally that provide opportunities for business engagement e.g. National Apprenticeship Week/ Gas Safety Week/ Careers Fairs/ Mela Festival/).

Working with HR colleagues, help to inform and shape Group policies relating to RB and bring these to life with paper and digital assets.

Keep up to date with new legislation, procedures, best practice, and techniques, in particular relating to RB, and ensure that they are incorporated into our ways of working.

Champion the company’s Values Programme, continuously seeking out and celebrating ‘values in practice’ across the workplace.

Identification of relevant awards and draft submissions in order to promote the Group’s charitable and community initiatives.

Participate in internal and external meetings to ensure consistency and quality in line with expectations.

Undertake project work as requested by the Communications Manager.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level OR equivalent professional experience to include a relevant marketing qualification / accreditation.
  • Be a confident communicator and presenter with experience engaging with, and influencing stakeholders.
  • Highly computer and web literate, with excellent IT skills.
  • Sound knowledge of capturing and editing video for social media use.
  • Proficient at copywriting and proofreading.
  • Excellent communication skills and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage a busy workload.
  • Display initiative, creativity and enthusiasm in all aspects of their work.
  • Possess a flexible and proactive working attitude.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience in Internal Communications or Staff Engagement.
  • Previous experience in responsible business activity (e.g. sponsorship or fundraising).
