Job Title: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Hybrid (Base location to be agreed; options include Linenhall Street)
Salary Band: Band 8A (£47,126 – £53,219 pro rata)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months initially)

Are you passionate about using data to drive change in health and social care? We’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a dynamic digital health and care team working at the forefront of service transformation in Northern Ireland.

In this high-impact role, you’ll lead complex analytical projects, drive innovation in predictive modelling and AI, and support strategic decision-making through actionable insights. You’ll work collaboratively with stakeholders across the health system, manage a skilled data science team, and contribute to the development of tools that directly influence service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead advanced statistical analysis and data science projects using Python/R.

  • Develop predictive models and decision-support tools.

  • Present findings to senior stakeholders, influencing strategy and policy.

  • Mentor a team of analysts, providing technical oversight and leadership.

  • Support cross-disciplinary projects and contribute to academic collaborations.

Essential Criteria:

  • Postgraduate degree in computer/data science (with a machine learning focus) plus 3 years’ experience in analytics — or 5+ years’ relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in Python and/or R.

  • Strong background in statistical analysis, data modelling, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments considered).

Desirable:

  • Experience in machine learning, simulation, visualisation best practice, and multivariate statistics.

  • Track record of influencing organisational change through data science.

  • Experience in mentoring and educating stakeholders on data science capabilities.
