Job Description

On behalf of our client, an organisation within the Education Sector, we are seeking a Wrap- Around Care Manager for a part time, permanent role in their organisation.

This is a term time role- 45 weeks including paid holidays.

Hours of work are 25 hours per week- Monday to Friday 1pm- 6pm.

NJC Scale Pt23 to Pt26: ie £17.29 – £18.72 per hour

NILGOSC pension scheme, to which College contributes 19%.

Location is in the BT4 area of Belfast.

We are looking for an individual to manage a team of people providing care in a fun environment for children from kindergarten to P7. This would include breakfast club and after-school care.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Qualification at QCF Level 5 Diploma; or a QCF Level 5 Diploma Child Care, Learning and Development; or a relevant occupational qualification in early years’ education, social work, nursing, teaching or health visiting.
  2. Strong planning and organisation skills. Highly self-motivated, able to energise and motivate self and others.
  3. Ability to prioritise own workload and work flexibly, and at times under pressure.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and delegate where appropriate.
  5. Encourage high standards of effort, care and presentation.
  6. Build excellent relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  7. Communicate with parents regarding their children’s progress and any concerns.
  8. A friendly and approachable attitude, with a can-do mind-set.

Desirable criteria:

  1. Two years’ experience working in a play, education, youth or day care setting.
  2. Paediatric first aid trained would be desirable, and willing to undertake further training as necessary.
  3. Experience working in a school environment, or experience of leading Wraparound Care Provisions.

Key duties:

You will have overall responsibility and accountability for leadership of the Wraparound Care (Pre- and After-School) provision, including organising rotas of staff; ensuring appropriate staff-to-children ratios.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To ensure the safety of both children and staff in a secure environment in-line with policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with the Safeguarding Leads to ensure the highest level of pastoral care for children;
  • Scheduling of age-appropriate activities, promoting learning and development;
  • Staff rota planning, leading team meetings and planning sessions.
  • To attend and complete any safeguarding and any other relevant training and to share training information as appropriate; Recording attendance etc to Finance Department on a weekly basis;
  • Liaison with the Catering Manager
  • To liaise with external providers where applicable.
